Michael Aravinda Maday died Saturday, May 16, age 71. Born on March 4, 1949 in Detroit, Michigan, Michael graduated from Fitzgerald High School (Warren, Michigan) in 1967 after editing the school newspaper in his senior year and starring in a school production of The Sound of Music, for which he was offered a scholarship to study drama in England. He attended Oakland University (Rochester, Michigan) and lived in California and Colorado before becoming a Unity Minister and serving churches in Pontiac and Flint, Michigan, and Columbia, Missouri. An educator and counselor, he most recently worked for Unity’s Prayer Ministry.
Michael was passionate, interested, opinionated, funny, and stubborn. Deeply spiritual and intellectual, he was greatly influenced by Siddha Yoga, Ken Wilbur, George Leonard, Jack Boland, and others. He is survived by his brothers Daniel, Edwin, and David, and many cousins and great-cousins.
