JUANITA P. STOLLE

April 19, 2020

Juanita Pauline Stolle, known as our Beloved Queen, passed away on Sunday, April 19th, 2020 at the age of 99 surrounded by family at The Heritage of Overland Park.

Juanita was born on December 24, 1920, in Akron, OH, to parents William and Frances Wheat. She was the eldest sibling, with three brothers: Elwood, Ralph, and Don.

Juanita met her future husband, Daniel (Dan) Stolle, at Roosevelt High School in Dayton, OH, and both graduated in 1939.  Juanita was a bookkeeper for The Inland Manufacturing Company in Dayton. She and Dan were married November 13, 1943, and had three sons: Steven, Michael, and Paul and daughter, Danita.  Juanita was a meticulous homemaker and outstanding cook/baker, always ensuring a balanced home cooked meal was prepared.  She loved being involved in various church groups, scout meetings, and garden clubs. Each December Juanita made a different cookie recipe every day until Christmas.  As a Christmas Eve baby, the family knew not to combine her birthday gift with her Christmas present.

The family lived in several Chicago suburbs and then moved to Leawood, KS. In 1974 Dan and Juanita returned to Dayton, OH until retirement in 1986 took them to Homosassa, FL, and finally Sun City Center, FL. They loved an evening out playing their favorite card game, bridge.  Juanita and Dan traveled around the world and shared their passion for golf by participating in various country club events and exploring new golf courses.  Juanita was proud of her golfing achievements, winning numerous tournaments as well as having a hole in one at two different golf courses.  However, one of her more significant achievements was overcoming breast cancer twice!

After her husband’s passing in 2007, Juanita returned to Overland Park, KS, to enjoy her final years.  Juanita always cherished time with her son-in-law, Frank Bonura, who took her on frequent strolls around the neighborhood, as well as planned “dinner and a movie” nights and other outings.  Juanita enjoyed monthly bus rides to the Church of the Resurrection to attend the SilverLink’s service and the frequent visits from Ron Fugate, the Congregational Care Minister, as well as from other clergy members.

Juanita preceded her parents, William and Frances Wheat; her brothers, Elwood Wheat and Ralph Wheat; and her son Michael Stolle. She is survived by her sons, Steven and Paul, and daughter, Danita.  She is also survived by her youngest brother, Rev. Donald Wheat, South Haven, MI. Throughout the last 13 years, Juanita enjoyed numerous visits from Don, her 6 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Juanita’s radiant smile and pure heart were infectious and would warm the hearts of all who encountered her.  She always made the best out of every day!

The Stolle family wishes to express their appreciation to the many caregivers at The Heritage of Overland Park as well as the hospice caregivers at VISTAS and ASCEND. Their friendship and demonstrated love for Juanita will always be remembered.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Juanita’s amazing 11-year old great grandson, Lex, fundraising page for Leukemia Research: Cure for Leukemia Research. https://fundraise.rallyfoundation.org/fundraiser/2572737
