Rickey H. Hanna

Family was an important part of Rickey's life, especially the life he built with his wife, Julie (Carey) Hanna, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage. He also proudly served in the U.S. military during the Vietnam era.

He found joy in the simple things that made him who he was. Before losing his voice, he loved to sing, and people loved hearing his rich, soothing voice. He also played guitar, something family and friends always enjoyed listening to, and his infectious laugh was unmistakably his. In his later years, he enjoyed old Westerns and cheering on the Indiana Fever, especially his favorite player, Kelsey Mitchell.

He had a way of lighting up a room, with a warm presence and infectious laugh that drew people to him and made friendships come easily wherever he went.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Hannah and Geraldine (Wilson) Hanna, and his siblings Jerry Stack, Trudy Hanna, Bud Hanna, Earl Hanna, and Ernie Hanna.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Julie (Carey) Hanna; his siblings Cindy Lefkowitz, Penny Doshi, Rusty Hanna, and Denny Hanna; his children, Brenda Jenkins, Jenny Moore and her husband Josh, and Tony Hanna ; as well as 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, with another great-grandchild on the way.

He leaves behind a large and loving family, many cherished friendships, countless memories, and a life that will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at Muehlebach Funeral Care, 6800 Troost Ave., Kansas City, MO 64131 from 11:00am - 12:00pm with a Memorial Service immediately following at 12:00pm.
