Paula Kay Cook, 63, of Kansas City, MO passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025 at her home after a valiant battle with breast cancer. Paula leaves behind two children (Melissa Miermaster and Steven Miermaster), two grandchildren (Tyler Madison and Vera-Lea Miermaster), a sister (Elizabeth Allen Ballieu) and her mother (Jurhee Daiprai). She is preceded by her grandmother Charlotte Handy.
As a child, Paula loved spending time in the country during summer breaks riding horses bareback, milking cows, feeding the pigs, and swimming in the pond. She also enjoyed camping and rock collecting with her father (Jesse Daiprai). Making sure to pass down these loves to her children & their friends with frequent camping trips.
Paula attended Penn Valley Community College, and later worked at John Knox Village while earning her CNA. She was a natural caregiver in life and was very proud of taking care of her family through all their stages of life.
Her nurturing nature could be seen in her love of animals and her passion for always having a dog or two. Sandy and Sarah were twin companions who followed her faithfully in life & have been waiting to run the country fields with their mom again.
Paula was known for having a big heart and often donated food and other necessities to the local food pantry supported by her grandmother’s church. She would feed stray animals in her neighborhood, which landed her a pet cat named Goldie.
Her love of thrift stores, a good deal and yard sales will forever live on with all of her family anytime they find awesome sale, Paula will be the first person they think of. She will be deeply missed.
