Marjorie Jane (Williams) Parker

Marjorie Jane (Williams) Parker, 89, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on July 2, 2025, at home with family and loved ones after a rapid bout with illness.

She was born on August 31, 1935, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to the late Walter Williams and Grace B (Clements) Williams.

Known to most as Marge (and to close friends as Mir), she later moved to the state of Oregon and attended the local schools, including the Milwaukie Union High School from which she graduated in 1953. One of the best stories from her time there, that brought many laughs over the years, was that she was voted by her classmates to have the “Best Figure” that senior year.

After graduating, she married Garland “Tony” Parker and had two sons, Jeffery and Scott. Marge worked at the Boeing plant as an inspector and they at one time owned a bar called Brent’s Place both in the Portland, Oregon area. After Tony’s death in 1979, Marjorie moved to the Denver, Colorado area where she worked at a Residence Inn preparing food for the guests and as a manager. There she had many special experiences, even meeting some famous people when they were visiting.

Marjorie enjoyed lots of different hobbies over the years. She did a lot of reading and was great with trivia and puzzles. She even had her own DS Lite on which she would play her Crossword puzzles and Anagrams game. She became a big Denver Broncos fan from her time living there and loved watching football games. After moving to Kansas in 2009 she remained a strong fan though living in “enemy territory” as local loved ones would call it. Over her time here, however, she did come to appreciate the Chiefs and said she “rooted for them on all but those 2 games.”

Marge’s favorite thing was probably spending leisurely time with friends and loved ones, including her newly adopted dogs, Monkee and Marley. Known as the candy lady to the kids she adored, she was a surrogate grandmother to those in her bonus family. She also loved cooking for people even through the beginning months of this year.

Remembering Marge’s quick wit and sense of humor, she is survived by her two sons, Jeffery G. Parker and Scott M. Parker, both of Colorado, and her daughter-in-law Tricia Parker of Overland Park, Kansas. Marge also leaves behind 4 granddaughters, Kandice Green, Mellissa Parker, Cori Parker, and Rochelle Fong, several great grandchildren, and many other family members, church family, friends and loved ones who will miss her dearly.

In addition to her parents, Marge was preceded in death by her sisters Ruth (Williams) Bechtold and Norma Jean (Williams) Secor, her one-year-old brother John F Williams, and granddaughter Britany Alire.

In her last weeks, Marjorie was very thankful for her life here and her time with those she loved, expressing great appreciation for all she had experienced and known in her life. We will miss you Mir.
