Marion Mackey Hunter Shippee, of Leawood, KS passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on August 31, 2026. She was born to Winfred Hunter & (John) Pete Meade Hunter on March 28, 1931, in Bowling Green, MO.

Marion shared 50 years of marriage with her husband Donald Eliot Shippee (deceased).  They had three children, David (deceased), Karen, and Fred.  Together they built a life of love filled with family, friends, and travel.

Marion earned her master's degree in education and taught in the Hickman Mills School District for over 30 years.  She touched the lives of generations of elementary school students, teaching them with kindness, compassion, and patience.  Her work in the classroom reflected a firm belief in the value of learning.  After her retirement she attended numerous seminars on a wide variety of topics and volunteered at the Nelson-Atkins Museum and Johnson County Master Gardeners.

Marion is survived by her daughter Karen (Steve) Hogan and son Fred (Linda) Shippee; daughter-in-law Janet Shippee; grandchildren, Ken, Evan, Sofi, Faith, Leah, Paul, Matt, Jared, Nikki, and Sarah; great grandchildren, Rylie, Hope, Elijah, Ethan, Lucas, Caden, Kylie, Jace, Van; great-great grandchildren, Violet and Willow and many beloved nieces & nephews that will miss Auntie Marion.  Marion shared memories of times past, laughter, and jokes with all.
