Lenora Kay McCrorey, fondly known as Kay, passed away on January 19, 2026, at The Groves Rosewood Assisted Living in Independence, Missouri. Born on November 4, 1964, in Kansas City, Missouri, she was a cherished daughter, loving mother, devoted sister, and a dear friend to many.

Kay graduated from VanHorn High School in 1983, embarking on a life that would be characterized by her unwavering dedication to family. For many years, Kay built a career as a cashier, diligently serving her community and connecting with countless people.

In May of 1985, Kay welcomed her only child, Gregory, into her life. For the next 16 years, Gregory was the center of her universe, and Kay was so happy and blessed to be able to nurture and love Gregory until his passing in 2001.

Kay is survived by her loving sisters, Denise Hobbs, Tammy (Steve) Griffitt, and Sharon Champion. Her memory will also be cherished by her nephew, Thomas (Mamba), and nieces, Morgan (William), Shylee, Bianca, and Jillian. Additionally, many Aunts, Uncles, and cousins will carry her in their hearts, honoring her legacy in their lives.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, William Rudolph McCrorey and Connie Sue McCrorey, as well as her beloved son, Gregory McCrorey. She also joins her grandparents, Connie Thomas, Helen (Bright) Thomas, John McCrorey, and Nellie (Roper) McCrorey, in eternal rest.

As we remember Kay, we celebrate her life, resilience, and the influence she had on those around her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered, leaving a lasting imprint on the hearts of her family and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff of The Groves Rosewood for their care during the last days of Kay's life.

A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in Kay's name to the American Heart Association or an Autism organization of their choice.
