Obituary

Evelyn Marie Warack (nee Ulrey), 95, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away March 5, 2026. Born May 11, 1930, in Stanley, Wisconsin, she was the youngest of five children born to William and Alice (nee Baker) Ulrey. Sadly, when Evelyn was just 2 months old, her mother passed away so she went to live with her aunt and uncle Bessie & Clifford Manier and was raised with her eleven cousins, who were more like siblings to her.

Her father later married Evelyn’s stepmother, Berniece. They had one son, Bernard (Sonny). Over the years Evelyn maintained a relationship with them and her biological siblings.

Evelyn attended Nursing school at Swedish Covenant graduating in 1952. While working there, she cared for a patient named Leonard John Conrad. They married and together, had one child, also named Leonard, before Leonard, Sr., passed away at the age of 25.

Evelyn then went on to work as a labor and delivery nurse at Condell Hospital in Libertyville, IL. During this time, she met Glenn Jobey. They married and had a son, Kevin, and a daughter, JoAnn, before divorcing in 1968.

During her time as a single mother living in the suburbs of Chicago, Evelyn met Andrew Warack at a family wedding. The two married in 1976 and enjoyed a long and happy marriage until Andy’s passing in 2009. Together they had a blended family of seven children: her three children and Andy’s children, Linda, Maria, Andrew and Andrea.

Evelyn and Andy were fortunate enough to retire early and enjoyed many nomadic years of traveling throughout the US and Canada in their RV, and travels abroad before settling down in Tucson, AZ. During her retirement, to keep her family close, Evelyn planned many family vacations for upwards of thirty people to places like Orlando, FL, Williamsburg, VA, Lake Tahoe, CA, Sedona, AZ, and Whitefish, MT.

While in Tucson, she started the hobbies of making stained glass art and fused glass jewelry. Many pieces have been shared with family members who will cherish them for years to come.

After many years of being a snowbird, Evelyn moved to a senior living community, John Knox Village, in Lee’s Summit, MO. to be closer to her daughter, JoAnn, and son, Kevin. She lived independently until this past January.

Evelyn is survived by her three children; Leonard Conrad, Kevin (Donna) Jobey, JoAnn (Jerry) Stover and four stepchildren; Linda (Ken) Volin, Maria (Marty) Pinkowski, Andrew (Jan) Warack, and Andrea (Andy) Nielsen; her grandchildren Regina (Eddie) Hertenstein and Lenny (Julie) Conrad; James and Natalie Volin; Kristin, Alex (Alice), Elise (Kevin) Pardon, Danny, and Colette Pinkowski; Andy (Hayley) Warack and Lisa (Justin)Ross; Ryan Jobey; Jacob (Celia), Veronica, and Jeannette Breitfuss, and Sylvia Nielsen; eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Andy, her first and second husbands, her parents, the aunt and uncle that raised her, one biological sibling at infancy and the rest of her siblings Ione, Marion, Geraldine (Gerri) and Bernard (Sonny) and her cousins that were like siblings, Marie “Toots” Olson, Marjorie “Marge” Olson, Verna “Bobbe” Pue, Laura “Polly” Hatfield, Betty “Babe” Tate, Bernice Schneider, Jacob “Jake” Manier, William “Bups” Manier, Orville Manier, Emily “Sis” Horban, Emil “Bud” Manier and daughter-in-law, Carol Conrad.
