With great sadness, we announce the passing of Diana Lynne Schoonover, who left us on October 1, 2025, at the age of 65. Born on July 3, 1962, in Jackson County, Missouri, Diana lived a life filled with adventure, love, and resilience.
Diana was a mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She cherished the simple joys in life—collecting pictures of her family, reading her Bible, and surrounding herself with dream catchers. Her cat, Sassy, held a special place in her heart and was a constant companion.
She was deeply connected to her faith, attending Bible study and often speaking with love and gratitude about her church community. Diana looked up to her mentor, Miss Glee, and shared a lifelong bond with her best friend, Todd Odom, who stood by her through life’s many ups and downs.
Diana is survived by her siblings, Richard Schoonover and DJ Tooley; her children, John Patrick Martin II (and spouse Angelina Martin), Crystal Kudart, Angela and Marcus Groop; and her beloved grandchildren, Emery, Sophia, Kayson, and Athena.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Schoonover and Josphine Digirlomo.
A service to celebrate Diana’s life will be held at First Baptist Church, 500 W Truman Rd, Independence, MO 64050, at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the church to support Diana’s services.
Mom, you will never be forgotten. You will always be loved and forever in our hearts.
