David Eugene Harvey, 77, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026.
David was born on February 5, 1949, in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Norton Rhea and Bonnie Jeanette Harvey.
He lived in Kansas City, Kansas, until 1961, when the family moved to Shawnee, Kansas. David graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1967. He attended Emporia State College before joining the United States Navy, where he served in the Hospital Corps at Barbers Point, Hawaii.
After returning to the mainland, David worked in construction as a long‑haul truck driver, traveling extensively along the East Coast.
He met Catherine, his wife, in New York while she was visiting the United States. They were married in Raymore, Missouri, in 2010, and he moved to Ireland, where Catherine lived. He moved back to the States in 2017, where he lived in Raymore, Missouri.
David is survived by his wife, Catherine; his brother, Dennis (Robin) Harvey, and their children, Nikki (Jason) Godard, Jennifer Ming, and Tricia (Jesse) Lee; and his sister, Barbara Jansen, and her children, Anthony Asbury and Machelle (Bill) Hays. He is also survived by the next generation of nieces and nephews, including Megan Moore, Alex Asbury, Korbyn Asbury, Keygun Asbury, Tayler Thornberg, Sydney Godard, Reece Godard, Wylin Ming, Shay Ming, Jolie Ming, Brandon Lee, Samantha Lee, and Madison Lee. The youngest of his nieces and nephews are Benjamin Moore, James Moore, Liam Yackle, Lanie Thornberg, Benny Fleming, Oliver Fleming, Rudy Fleming, Sterling Ming, and Clair Ming. Additional survivors include his aunt, Maryjo Hanson, and his cousin, Lance Hanson.
The family would like to thank the caregivers at the Veterans Hospital, the staff at Delmar Gardens of Lenexa, and the compassionate team at St. Croix Hospice for their dedicated care during David’s final days.
