The Great Book of Baseball Statistics is closed and the Royals must go on without their TV coach. End of life came to Wayne Dillard at the age of seventy-eight on Saturday, August 18, 2018. The early years for Charles Wayne Dillard began in Deland, Florida with parents Lorenzo Jackson Dillard and Ruby Fuller Dillard. Both parents, Two brothers, L.J. and Richard, and Sisters, Virginia and Betty preceded Wayne in death.   A younger brother, Ronald, resides in Florida.

A gifted mathematician, Wayne excelled academically at the University of Florida with a degree in physics and again at The University Of Wyoming where he earned a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering under a US Air Force program.  He was a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity.

In 1963 he married Janet Predmore at Muscatine, Iowa.  The family grew with the birth of son,  Brian Walter in Wyoming and daughter, Catherine Rose in New Mexico.

Military reassignments followed to Texas and Vietnam, then five years in England. Civilian life began in Pennsylvania and ended in Kansas.

Other travels included trips to Thailand, Germany, Italy, Ireland and Scotland.  Road trip through all fifty states and Canada completed the journey.

At home in Kansas, Wayne found pleasure in both the KC Symphony and Lyric Opera Seasons.

Always the professional engineer, Wayne enjoyed presenting papers concerning his work at conferences of The Water Environment Federation.  He was also a member of American Society of Engineers and both the Kansas and Missouri chapters of Water Works Associations.

Wayne enthusiastically filled his position at the District Seven office of US Environmental Protection Agency until it became necessary to wage a fulltime battle with cancer.

If you wish to pay tribute to Wayne, please discourage a smoker and fight for clean air.
