Tara “Tari” Lynn Wharton

August 17th, 1968 – September 16th,2018

Overland Park, Kansas

The world lost a special angel on September 16th, 2018 when Tari Wharton was called to heaven.  With her loving family at her side, Tari was finally able to let go, and end the fight she so bravely endured.

A lifelong resident of Overland Park, Kansas, Tari touched the lives of many throughout her life’s journey.  As a young girl, Tari quickly became the inspiration for family and friends to lend a hand to help with her “special”needs.  However, over the years, Tari’s role in the family truly was “special”in a very different way.  Tari was kind, happy, and honest.  Tari never lied, never complained, never judged, and never asked for anything. Tari became the inspiration for her family by keeping things in perspective and realizing what is important in life:  Unconditional Love and Support.

Tari will be greatly missed by her family and friends.  However, it is important to thank Tari’s extended family at Nova Center, Inc. (her school) and Community Living Opportunities (CLO) where she lived for over 25 years, for their heroic love and support over the years. Tari would have given a heart-felt thank you and farewell to Cedanor Henrius, one of her caretakers of over 18 years.  Tari is in heaven with her favorite JC Penney catalog….  Fly Angel Tari, you are finally free.

Tari is survived by her father, John Wharton, mother, Mary Wharton, older sister Robin Wharton-Conn, nephew Chandler Conn and countless loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and her many, many friends.

A celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 2pm at the LionsGate Clubhouse – 5861 Edgewater Drive, Overland Park, Kansas 66223.

The family is asking that in lieu of flowers, charitable donations be made to Nova Center Inc. an organization that was co-founded by her parents in 1980 and continues to serve children and adults in the Greater Kansas City area with special needs.
