Sarah Phillips

Sarah was born in rural Gentry County, Missouri and started school in a 1 room school house with 7 other children.  She attended Albany, Missouri high school and graduated in 1960.  During her senior year, and following it, she worked at the Albany Telephone Company; - where they actually said, “Number please?”  She moved to Kansas City in 1961 and worked at Western Auto as a switch board operator until Kevin was born in 1963; - followed by Brandon in 1965.  She stayed at home until she went to work at Avon from 1969-1985; - followed by Marion Labs from 1986-2006; - then Beta Sigma Phi from 2009-2011; - and American Income Insurance from 2011-2015.  She was an active member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church from 1966 until her passing.  Sarah was a wonderful mother, a mentor, and good friend to many.  Her patience, strength, grace, and life long struggle to be a better servant to the Lord Jesus Christ is what we will remember the most.

Celebration of Sarah’s life will take place on Saturday, October 13th.  Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m., followed by the service at 10:30 a.m. at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 9420 James A. Reed Rd., Kansas City, MO 64138.

In lieu of flowers, Sarah requests that donations be made to the St. Luke’s Scholarship Fund.
