Mary Kerr

November 13, 1928 — February 14, 2018

Mary (Terry) Johnston Kerr, 89, of Kansas City, MO, passed away February 14, 2018.

Terry Johnston was born to Enoch Johnston and Mary Power Johnston on November 13, 1928 in Dublin, Ireland. Terry moved to London, England, following her schooling, to begin a nursing career.

There, in the 1950s, she met Donald Kerr who was stationed at South Ruislip U.S. Air Force base near London.  They were married on December 24, 1956 and lived in Harrow, Middleshex, until Don was stationed to Amarillo AFB in Texas. Their daughters, Beverly and Donna, were born in Amarillo. The family enjoyed later assignments to Air Force bases in Bermuda and Washington, D.C., before obtaining an assignment to Richards-Gebaur AFB in order to be close to Don's parents.

Terry returned to work in the 1970s and retired from the Social Security Administration in the early 1990s. Terry and Don enjoyed many years of active retirement, traveling often to favorite destinations in New England, California and the Northwest.

Terry is survived by her daughter Donna and husband Tim Knight of Kansas City, as well as her daughter Beverly, of Austin, TX, and her half sister Beth Johnston Jonk of Hailsham, East Sussex, England. She was preceded in her death by her parents, her sister, Bertha Johnston, and her husband Don.

The family wishes  to thank staff and residents of Bishop Spencer Place for their care, kindness and friendship.
