Betty Johnson

Betty Louise Johnson, age 86, of Platte City, Missouri died peacefully Saturday, August 4, 2018 at New Mark Care & Rehabilitation Center, Kansas City, Mo.

Betty was born in Shelbiana, Kentucky on July 28, 1932. She was the daughter of Sherman and Louise (Cox) Moore. Betty graduated from Virgie High School in Pike County, Kentucky. She retired from Ford Motor Company, Ypsilanti, Michigan, after 34 years of service. Betty was also employed at Walmart during her later years. She was mostly found working at the Howell, Michigan store. She retired from Walmart after 15 years of employment.

Betty loved being with her family, going to the Platte County Senior Center, and watching the Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers play baseball. She enjoyed attending the Old Regular Baptist Church and being with her friends listening to gospel/bluegrass music at the Kentuckians of Michigan music park. Betty also loved spending time outdoors and going to the lake with family and friends. Betty was everybody’s “Granny.” She made friends everywhere she went.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents: Sherman and Louise; brothers: James Moore, John David Moore, Karl Norman Moore, Glen Hayes Moore, and Freddie Gene Moore. She is survived by her son: Roy Sherman (Jennifer) Johnson, of Platte City, Mo.; 3 granddaughters: Sarah (Mike) Ritz, Katie (Damon) Mount, and Brianna Smith;  grandson: Danny (Julie) Johnson; 8 great grandchildren: Ian, Allison, Chelsea, Mickey, Larissa, Maddie, Kennedy, Mabel. Betty is also survived by her brothers: Henry L. (Rita) Moore of Elkhorn City, Ky., McKinley Dean (Ann) Moore of Defuniak Springs, FL.

Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 28, 2019, at The Kentuckians of Michigan, 28391 Bredow Ave., Romulus, Michigan, 48174. Final resting will be at Washtenong Memorial Park, Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Betty’s memorial service is to be held on her next birthday, a day that was very special to her. The family hopes all can attend this Celebration of Life, and share stories or memories of Betty.
