Alberta Lea Holcomb, 79, of Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully at the Kansas City Hospice Center on November 26, 2017. Her Husband of almost 40 years, John Otto Holcomb, and her mother and father, Violet and Albert L. Plummer, of Kansas City, MO, precede Alberta in death. She leaves behind three children, Laura Jill Holcomb of Paola, KS, Rebecca Holcomb of Camdenton, MO and Michael Holcomb of Rumson, NJ, three grandchildren, Lynsey Sheely, Nathan Kessler, Nicholas Kessler, one great grandchild, Lincoln Sheely, and a brother and sister-in- law, Daniel and Natalie Plummer, of Prairie Village, KS.

Alberta was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great grandchild. She relished her thirty-year career as a Legal Secretary, working in several law firms throughout the Kansas City area; with the last being Franke, Schultz and Mullen. She put in long hours and took great pride in organizing and running the annual March Madness pool at work, which was no small task. Year after year, the lawyers would try to pull fast ones on her, but she was too quick for them. She was also very proud of her well-stocked candy dish; it was her way of making sure people stopped by her desk to offer up the latest office gossip. Alberta gave back to her community as president of the PTA and went on to become an elected member of the Hickman Mills School Board.

A memorial service will be held in her honor on Friday, December 15 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Grandview; 1416 Main Street, Grandview MO. 64030, (816) 763-2200

Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care. 1500 Meadow Lake PKWY 200, KCMO 64114-9937
